I read that the attendance record was set this year surpassing last year's, but I don't remember the difference is this year from last year's.

Per lax.com about today's game:

Philadelphia, PA – In front of a sun-drenched packed house (attendance was 44,920)

Who were the MVPs?

I missed that part due to little girl interference.

Per Hopkins website, Jesse Schwarzmann was the MVP.

Congrats to Hopkins for breaking the drought. To echo Bluevelvet, the difference this year (and usually every year) is the team that can play defense wins the championship. Hopkins really turned up the defense in the last quarter and a half to carry them to victory. Duke's last goal came at the 12:43 mark of the 3rd quarter on an unsettled situation. It was the same situation in the MDIA championship game with UCSB shutting down Sonoma in the 2nd half.

Congrats to Hopkins!!

After watching Duke roll through Cornell and Maryland I thought they were the best team in the nation. I would not have believed any team in the country could hold them to 1 goal in the second half and hold them nearly 28 minutes without a goal. Great adjustments by Petro and his staff in the second half.

The other thing I learned over the weekend...Matt Danowski is the best player in the country. Duke will be very tough the next two season, I suspect at least one NC trophy ends up in Durham in the next two years.

I would argue that Rabil of Hopkins will be the next great player, challenging Danowski for Tewaaratons for the next couple of years.

I would think Greer of Duke and Rubeor of UVA would also be in the mix.

the UVA/Hopkins game was surreal. Wind/rain out of no where, trash flying all over the field, sober people heading for the hills. The game was pure chaos.

Here is a good pick from lax.com during the chaos:

Could be a stupid question, but does anyone know what the "HOOS" on the back of the UVa shorts stands for?

Hoos, Mr. Jefferson is rolling in his grave. Sorry Sally H.

Postby KnoxVegas on Tue May 31, 2005 2:54 pm

'Hoos is the shorten version of the word wahoo which UVAers like to call themselves. Rumor has it that a wahoo can drink twice its body weight, which is rather ironic since a wahoo is a fish. The only time I root, the American not Australian, for VPI is when they beat UVA.

For more UVA brilliance, go to this link to read all about it. Wa-Hoo-What!

IS the LINK not the worst stadium ever for atmosphere? Sure the sightlines were good, as in all the newer stadiums...but it looks like a concrete graveyard...like it isn't even finished.

Oh well. Just thought it sucked the life out of the stadium on Monday, which was incidentaly the most boring one goal final in history.

The LINC is in Philly and built on the same site as the Vet (ok, ight next door actually). Obviously, the good people of Philly never saw Poltergiest. They would have learned that nothing good can ever come from building on top of a cemetery.
