The opening game of the final day of the 2006 Husky Invitational Tourney is simply HUGE!
I'm not sure if it is more important to UMD (an undefeated HIT would surely "wow" the pollsters) or to Poly (can't afford a 2nd HIT loss to lower-ranked teams and still expect an at-large bid to Dallas), but it is fair to say that both the Mustangs and the Bulldogs want this one badly.
I will be there to phone in updates, is anyone available to post them? Please PM me, I'll confirm when I get back from breakfast in about an hour...

Lil Lady Lax Fan has offered to post updates from me as a back-up (she has work to do that this will interfere with), but I could sure use a primary contact. Please PM me in the next 15 minutes or PM Cathi and offer your phone number for her to pass on to me when I call her at faceoff in 90 minutes (10am PST, 1pm EST)
By the way, after a week of typical cold, grey Northwest rain, this morning unveiled clear blue skies, brilliant sunshine and all our glorious mountains "out" in full display. I'm sure everyone will be asking if we can move the HIT from inside Dempsey Center outside to our home field. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

First report of the game. Quite an excited crowd there. When I spoke to Dan Cal Poly was on offense, UMD swiped the ball and scored the first goal of the game (#19, I think he said). With approx. 14 min. left in the game. UMD Takes the lead, 1-0

5:05 remaining in the period.
Cal Poly Killed their first penalty only to get called for a second penalty for slashing. They were killing that one when the UMD goalie dropped the ball. In the chaos Cal Poly's Tim Casey scooped up the dropped ball and scored Cal Poly's first goal. Score now 1-1

Minn had two in the box. Unnecessary roughness and extra man on field.
Cal Poly took advantage of this, scoring their second goal #7 Seth Kweller sending it home with and assist from #11 Colin Mason. Score now 2-1 CP in the first half.

At halftime score is still 4-2 Cal Poly. Cal Poly was called for pushing with three seconds remaining on the clock. Minn-Duluth will start the third quarter with possession and an extra man for 27 seconds. Hope they can make good use of that time.
Both teams have been playing a good game. Good luck to both teams in the second half.
