About 1:00 into the game and UCSD strikes first with a goal from Chris McCall. UCSD 1-0.

Sonoma ties it up on a goal from Dan McDonald. 1-1 in the 1st quarter.

Dan McDonald gets his second goal from the same spot, edge of the crease on the left hand side, to give Sonoma the lead. Still in the 1st, SSU - 2 UCSD - 1

UCSD scores an impressive goal. They were man down, UCSD long pole Brandon Hays picks up a loose ball, takes it coast to coast, and ties the game at 2-2.

Near the end of the 1st quarter, SSU's Brian Alexander scores assisted by Travis Cornelison to put SSU ahead by a count of 3-2.

Early in the 2nd quarter, Morgan Dale of SSU scores on a fast break. Sonoma now up 4-2.

It is reported that Sonoma has not yet won a faceoff as 3 have been illegal procedures and the rest won by UCSD. I guess the guy who was going to win 90% of the faceoffs this year is not playing today. 8-)

Sonoma scores once more to go up 5-2. Didn't catch number, but thinks it was #16 Dan McDonald. This goal was scored on a fast break after an unsettled situation off the faceoff.

After a long scoreless period, UCSD gets back on the board with a goal from Trevor Kingsbury from Tim Carter. With approximately 3-4 minutes left before the half, SSU 5 UCSD 3.
