UMD takes the lead with a goal by Casey Mithun with an assist by Brian Hoffman. UMD now winning, 6-5 with 6 minutes left in the third.

Would this be considered the modern day version of sitting around the radio listening to the game??? :D

Cal Poly killed another penalty. UMD is on the attack. It is saved by the green goalie. Cal Poly has the ball.

Some quick stats:

UMD has been called for 4 1/2 minutes of penalties

Cal Poly for a total of 12 minutes including the 3 min for Illegal stick.

Defense on both teams have been playing a great game.

Oh ho, at 6:30 Cal Poly's Tim Casey has another goal with an assist by Long Pole Hathaway.

At 4:00 Cal Poly given another penalty for slashing. UMD turned the Man up situation to their favor, Casey Mithun scoring another goal. Skip pass to the top of the goal to tie it up 7-7

Cal Poly scores another one only to have it taken away when a stick check is called and the stick is found to be illegal. Now serving a 3 min. penalty.

With the way Minnesota-Duluth's been playing out here in the West it looks like Minnesota's going to have some competition for the golden ticket to Nationals!!

Way to go Dawgs!

Not one, but TWO illegal stick penalties on Cal Poly. Six minutes of man down with no release. I would think that any coach that isn't checking his players' sticks, just out of self-preservation, is missing out.
As I've mentioned before, there have been a lot of illegal stick penalties this year, and that is when less than 10% of them are being checked (4 per game for the most part, (although Coach Graff's call for a check after SLO's goal was very prescient - not only up for 3 minutes, but got to put the eraser to the scoreboard - Ouch!)

Thanks also to the Lil Lady for her excellent work on the old Philco this weekend, and to Dan Wishengrad for his part in relaying the game to us. It really is pretty exciting reading the continuing posts on here - if we don't have live TV, this is next best!

Wow. Another OT game. Congrats to UMD for winning back to back OT games. They must be exhausted. I think those games are emotionally draining. Great focus UMD.
Sounds like a great evenly matched tournament. With 3 OT games between UMD, Cal Poly and Utah.

I'm just glad we don't have to deal with the ol' vacuum tubes!! Or the static for that matter, though the fans can kind of act as such when they're cheering a particularly good play!!

Thanks to Dan for his updates and his patience. Your calls were a nice distraction. Hope you'll post a post-game summary on the excitement that was the HIT.

Glad I could help bring the games to life.

I second that. Thanks to PatriotLax for his coverage as well. I was glad to see that someone else was ready to pick up the ball in those instance where my work got too crazy.
