UCSB AA LSM Damon Conklin-Moragne scores and was asssited by an unknown player making the score UCSB - 6 UCSD - 3 with 3:00 to go in the 3rd quarter. Damon stayed in on the gained possession and scored in a settled situation.

Needless to say. . .. .a CATLAXer.

UCSB scores (couldn't quite see who, but it may have been George Granelli) to go up 7-4 with 10:50 left in the game.

UCSD goal from Chris McCall on an EMO chance. UCSB still ahead 7-5 with 3:00 minutes to go in the game.

Report is that UCSB has been in the penalty box a lot in the 2nd half.

Report is that UCSD dominated the faceoffs today. The Tritons got a lot of help from the officials today, especially in the seond half. A number of very marginal calls from the report.

UCSB couldn't close out a 2 goal lead with less than 2 minutes to go.

Anyone who has never had the pleasure to see Nick Dean play should make an attempt to do so. He is just so fluid and one of the most clutch players I have ever played with and against.

This is simply not true. The fact is Santa Barbara led 7-4 with 2:30 to go and they couldn't hold the lead. Only one of UCSD's last 3 goals in regulation was EMO. Santa Barbara just did not have an answer for Nick Dean, plain and simple.

The game was well officiated, and UCSD only had 6 EMO opportunities. The way this is reported makes it seem as if they had 137 EMO's. UCSD played the ENTIRE game on defense, so if Santa Barbara has anyone to blame it is themselves, not the officials. Not having Luke Shaw did not help their cause also. If they have him, Santa Barbara probably wins this game.

If you asked me, I would say that there were certainly some untimely calls for the Gauchos, but nothing that I thought was a bad call. Most of the calls at the end of the game were for small mental mistakes- stepping out of bounds, push from behinds, stepping out of the box after a stall warning- only bad calls if you're a Gaucho (which a fairly high percentage of the crowd was- they had a very good showing).

Overall, it was in fact a scrappy game, with a lot of turnovers going both ways. Both teams had quite a few dropped or missed passes. I thought the defense for SB was particularly potent, as they did a great job limiting the amount of possession that the UCSD attack held onto the ball.

One of my favorite moments of the game was Benesch's cross field lob into the goal, since I was standing next to him when he threw it... I could hear him saying to himself, "Go in, go in, go in!"

Conklin Moragne had (not surprisingly) a very good game, and had some amazing checks throughout the game, particularly the check that helicoptered a Triton stick about 10-15 feet.

Brandon Hays had a great game as well, with great speed and stick skills- marked not only for his ability to take the ball away, but also to handle it as though he were carrying a short stick.

Needless to say Nick Dean also had a "good" game, having his stick on 6 of the 8 Triton goals in the game, including both the tying shot with 8.4 seconds left, and the winning shot 3 seconds into overtime from the very top of the box- a very long shot that I don't think the keeper was expecting, bounced off the outside of his right ankle and into the bottom left corner of the cage.

When I was done with the game, I went home and ate a tortilla.
