That's awesome, makes me think again of that year I still have of eligibility, will have to wait 5 year's to break Rich's record (?). :P

Reflections

This was one of the truly great collegiate club lacrosse games I have had the privilege of watching over the past twenty-something years. There was an ebb-and-flow to the game, with two evenly matched teams but possessing two totally different styles of play. Either team could have won tonight, but give the Utes credit for withstanding a bad fourth quarter after a great 3rd period and never giving up despite being held scoreless the final fifteen minutes of regulation. Give Poly credit for a terrific 4th-quarter comeback when Utah had the game seemingly in hand after three periods were complete. My only regret is the realization that Washington has to play both these teams over the next two days!

A big thanks to the three posters who took my phone calls and posted the updates. I'm glad they could even hear me over the bedlam that reigned in Dempsey Indoor tonight. The crowd really got into this game and both teams were well represented with vociferous partisans rooting them on. An instant classic and the best game yet in the three year history of the HIT.

Rich and I played at Gilman in 1989. I am in awe that Rich is not only still playing, but is able to produce at this level. Hopefully, the RMLC has some kind of "grandfather" clause that requires him to wear an old-school 8 panel bucket helmet.

No, Rich wears the Brine lid like the rest of the utes. But you wouldn't believe what he was sporting when he burst on to the Utah scene in 2001.... Well, then again, you played with him in HS, so it was probably the same gear. He had the bucket, a pair of L35s, and a highwall. We were man down, took the ball away, and took it down the field. rich proceeded to explain to the ref that the penalty is released upon our possesion in the box. A few of us calmed him down and let him know that the rules, as does equipment, change in a decade. He still had a knack for finding the goal and the open man.

I was real happy to see him in Irvine. Now I know I'm not the oldest in the league. :D

B-more lax

Postby Ken Lovic on Sat Mar 25, 2006 2:36 am

Come on Will... As a Loyola grad in "89, you have got to be kidding me about Rich still playing. would not have believed it if I did not see it.... I still talk to a lot of my fellow grads from that year (we won the the old MSA that year thank you very much) and it amazes me someone of our "age" is still competing.

we hosted your alma mater 2 weeks ago and it was nice to see some good 'ol fashioned b-more lacrosse in Atlanta.

best of luck Rich and Coach Will
