Michigan 10, CSU 9, 2OT

A really entertaining game that saw Michigan score 30 seconds into the second overtime for the 'W.'

CSU dominated the possession in the fourth quarter and erased a four-goal hole (I think it was four) to knot the score with about 15 seconds left in regulation. The Rams had a lot of long possessions throughout the game, but they were ridiculously long in the fourth quarter.

I thought Michigan's defense extended those possessions by closing off dodges and other holes forcing CSU to back the ball out and set it up again.

Brekan Kohlitz was an animal on face offs. There weren't many he lost.

Michigan wasn't the best at taking care of the ball on offense. There were some passing and ball-handling miscues that led to turnovers. It wasn't as much of an issue as it could have been because the Wolverines didn't need real lengthy possessions to find holes and score. Those issues seemed to rear their heads at the worst times in the fourth quarter (mostly on clears) and give the Rams extra possessions.

UM's ride was pretty darned solid in the second half. The Wolverines forced a couple of turnovers by locking on, double teaming and flat out making life miserable for CSU's poles.

Townsend was solid in goal for Michigan. He was consistent and saves several shots in close. He got a little help from the Rams through the first three quarters or so, as CSU seemed content to settle for shots a step or two inside the restraining line. CSU did a good job of backing shots up throughout the game.

CSU started Fitzgerald, but went to Ehinger in the second half. Ehinger made a couple of acrobatic saves.

All in all, I'm glad I drove down there.
