Cookie not updating?

I should preface this by saying I don't know much about this subject. So, let me explain the situation first. On my laptop, I am always signed into this message board and 90% of the time I have a tab open with the message board up. Usually, when I leave for a few hours and come back and click the link to look for new posts, it will give me all the topics that have new posts in the past two hours. However, the past 24 hours or so, it has given me a list a lot older than that. I think it's actually giving me topics with new posts from Tuesday. It's not that big of a problem since I can just look at the newest topics, but the problem comes when I click on the little icon to go directly to the newest posts in that topic and it shoots me to a post from Tuesday and I have to scroll down to go to the next page to find a post I haven't read. Hopefully this is making sense. As I said, I don't know much on this subject, but it seems to me that my cookie is not updating whenever I come back to my computer. Any thoughts?
