Q:
team A has posession and is clearing from their defensive side of the field...player from team B steps in crease as he rides player from Team A...Team A never loses posession...what happens and what is the call?

If the goalie has possession in his crease, this is a Play On, and if he completes the clearing pass, play continues. Otherwise it's a free clear.
If the ball is in possession outside the crease when B1 steps in, it's a flag down slow whistle, with a 30 second technical coming unless A scores on the delayed flag.

Crease violation.

We had this call in a game last fall and were informed by a player that we were idiots because a crease violation can never be time serving. I'll never understand how people believe they can become experts on the rules without ever reading the rulebook!

Danny,
To help you out, here is the actual citation from the NFHS rulebook;

RULE 6 Technical Fouls
SECTION 1 TECHNICAL FOULS
Technical fouls are those of a less serious nature than personal fouls and include all violations of the rules of the game except those specifically listed as personal or expulsion fouls.
PENALTY: The penalty for a technical foul shall be either a 30-second suspension of the player from the game (if the team fouled had possession of the ball at the time the foul was committed) or simply the awarding of the ball to the team fouled (if the team fouled did not have possession of the ball at the time the foul was committed).
SECTION 2 CREASE VIOLATIONS/GOALKEEPER INTERFERENCE
When the defensive team has possession of the ball, infringements of the rule involving the crease shall be penalized as follows (rather than under the general rules for technical fouls):
ART. 1 . . . Any interference with the goalkeeper of a technical nature while the ball is in possession of the defensive team outside of the crease shall result in a slow-whistle, flag-down situation.
ART. 2 . . . Any crease violation by an attacking player while the ball is in possession of the defensive team outside the crease shall result in a slow-whistle, flag-down situation. Any crease violation by an attacking player while the ball is in the crease shall result in a play-on.
ART. 3 . . . Any interference with the goalkeeper while he and the ball are in the crease, whether or not he has possession of the ball, shall be a play-on. If the goalkeeper has possession and fails to run the ball out of the crease or successfully complete an outlet pass, the ball is awarded to his team in its offensive side of the field at the Center Faceoff X. If the ball is loose in the crease and the goalkeeper gains possession, the play-on is over.

i of course lost the arguement, but the ref could not tell me the name of the call and i was not arguing wether or not that should be a slow whistle, rather that it occured because of a moving pick (didn't think my player ended up on his rear in the crease as a result of a sniper).

I have to admit that on the field I might have had a hard time coming up with the exact name of the penalty - most likely I would have just said Illegal Procedure, since that is an extensive catch-all.
Also, if the ref didn't see the initial contact, it's kind of like a tree falling in the woods - all I see is the clumsy attackman lying in the crease!

Shake off the questionable call and play on!
