I was just wondering if there is an repercussions after receiving 5 personal fouls in a game and being kicked out?

You feel shame. Lots and lots of shame.

It is just like fouling out in basketball. It is rare to see it happen in lacrosse, but it does happen.

You foul out with 5 personal fouls - not 5 minutes of personal foul penalty time. Technicals don't count in the mix.
The biggest difference between fouling out and an ejection penalty is that you are not out of the NEXT game as well.

I think I've only had two players foul out of games in my entire career. One was in a game I worked with LF25 in 2000 or so. It was more memorable for it being about 30 degrees and rainy than for the guy fouling out. Oh, and I won my first rules bet with a fellow official during that game. :D

The second time was in a high school game and was primarily the result of one play in which a middie slashed a clearing goalie three times on the same clear: once in the head, once in the ribs, and once in the leg. Three flags on the same play. The opposing team quickly scored on their man up and then was livid that the goal released all 3 penalties. The slasher later got another two penalties and was done for the day, but not before freaking out about the disqualification and getting a USC as well.

I'm going on 15 years of officiating and I've only had one player EVER foul out.

Sonny,

My memory is a bit cloudy but I think a few years ago when we bought SCU to Georgia, I had a player foul out in the first half. Not sure if it was in the GT game that you officiated in or one of the others.

I had it happen in a H.S. game. Never in a college game.

I remember a particularly brutal game in Big Rapids, MI, I think it was against Ball State. Not sure if any one player fouled out, but there were several with multiples! (Lots of D checks that missed the stick but managed to find legs, thighs, knees, etc.)
I received a call the next day from the coach and IM Manager, thinking they were going to complain about the number of penalties called on their team - instead they apologized for the conduct of the team. I was surprised and impressed, and then the coach left shortly thereafter under a cloud of suspicion!
He now has a position at a much higher caliber school.

Given your steel trap of a memory, do you remember what the discussion revolved around? I know it was a rather large payout!

Had it once in a high school game. Bad team, no parent support at all, literally. Only adult at the home game for that team was their coach. Kid obviously was only there to get physical. 5 personals by early in the second quarter, even after talking to him and the coach after previous fouls.

I have seen it a few times. It mostly involves players that are new to the sport and don't understand the hitting zone. I saw it happen in a state playoff game early in a game. That one player probably committed about 8 penalties, but the refs finally had to give him his 5th.

I tended to get benched before I could foul out. I spent more time in the box than I did on the field.

It revolved around whether either team had to keep the ball in the attack area in the last two minutes when the score was tied. I said neither did, and you said both did.

Can probably be attributed to Michigan winter brain freeze early in the season?
