20-sec. buzzer on clears

What is your mechanic on turning on the clearing timer? Do you fist pump or not? I've seen different college refs do it different ways.

I was just writing about that for a PowerPoint presentation: the fist pump is now optional. We were told to do it, now we're not told to do it but it's okay if we want to or continue to out of habit. I've had several discussions with the MDOC Training Committee chair on this.

So... if the fist pump is optional, do you provide any visual indication you are turning on your 20-sec. buzzer for the clearing team?

Not if you don't pump your fist!

The feeling is that we don't have to tell the coaches every time we do something, so we don't have to have an extra signal just to let them know we turned on the timer. Of course, we do need to give the "reset" signal when appropriate.
