The horn has the same effect on players as a whistle, and I think you have to play it the same way.

That rule still bugs the heck out of me. That should be a flagrant misconduct and an ejection instead of a 3:00 NR penalty.

Yeah, but in 37 years of lacrosse I've never, ever seen a goalie do something like that. Much ado about nothing. Besides, a 3 min NR on their starting goalie is likely going to result in many more goals than the one he avoided with the pullover.

BTW, if the goalie did that and the attacker ran around and put the ball in the triangle would you be tempted to count it?

As a goalie I can give you a great reason why pulling the goal over is a bad idea. That guy still has the rock and he might shoot it as hard as he can. Now you are unprotected player that looks like an idiot. I would rather take the body in that situation. If it is an OT championship game I might consider pulling the goal over, but I also trust my team and my skills.

Well if they did that, what need would there be for the Federation to seel it's own rule book. You can see the motivation since you can't download it, as you can with the NCAA rules. Wonder if its a profit center...hmmm.

Well, what I mean by that is that the Federation rules should be thrown out the window OR be as similar to NCAA but with an emphasis on safety. I really don't see the point in NFHS rules. I think you nailed it with profit. I am a coach and have reffed, but in no way do I consider myself a referee. I pose to you all what might the positives be of having an NFHS rulebook for lacrosse (not a critical question, just curious of the general consensus)? Like I said, I'm not a referee and would like to see a ref's opinion.
