Warrior Blade Faceoff Stick (legal or not?)

Postby Sonny on Tue Jan 22, 2008 11:58 am

Anyone heard anything about the NFHS or NCAA legality of the new faceoff stick from Warrior with asymmetrical sidewalls? One sidewall is apparently thinner then the other.

I haven't heard anything specifically about it, but since sidewall thickness is not something that is described (only sidewall height) I don't see where we can have any issue with it as long as it meets the dimension requirements. As the rock-it page states, they don't know how it will hold up in terms of getting to be too narrow after repeated faceoffs - which could be a potential issue, making it illegal.

The F-off is actually a lot wider than I expected it to be, so I wouldn't be that worried about it becoming too narrow (although with many heads that will happen with enough face offs). I actually pinched mine slightly. I think the problem that arises is the sidewall not on the ground for face offs is wider than the sidewall touching the ground, therefore it can potentially stick over the ball even if the head is straight up and down. This might causes the refs to think you are leaning in.
