I am wondering if there are any opions on the most protective goaie glove on the market. I use Warrior SuperStar Goalie 13", they have decent thumb protection and are the best glove I could find. Any recommendations? What have some people tried before and liked? I am looking for the most PROTECTIVE glove especially on the thumb. Thanks.

the brine deft have great thumb protection, but dont have the hard back-of the-hand area. id recommend them. i also have some friends who have played with the stx ignitor, but i dont know if youll be able to find them anymore.

the best gloves have to be the brine deft, ive used the warrior superstar goalie and there kind of bulky and rigid, the stx gladiator are really nice...but the deft has to be the best in my opinion...however, if your looking for the most thumb guard, the deft has alot but the stx gladiator gloves have the most(i think its called the stx gladiator gloves). ive never had to deal with any thumb issues except once at a outdoor fall tournament and the deft did a lot of protection

Although the Warrior Superstars are a little bulky the thumb is just so darn solid. I am not sure about the Defts though, I checked them out and they are missing one crucial key in the thumb. The floating thumb that the Warrior Superstar has is great because you can hold the stick tight and there is no way the tip of your thumb is exposed. Thanks for the feedback though, I am still on the lookout.

I honestly enjoyed using the regular Gladiator gloves. Of course my hand grip was different in that the thumb was never out front. I liked the gladiators that I used because they were bulky yet very flexible. I never wanted to have a solid thumb like a hockey glove, that is why i stuck with the regular gladiator.

defts are the only glove i cant find a person on my team that complains about... i use them in goal and for extra mobility i cut out the cuff... they have held up pretty well so far this year im hoping i dont have to buy another pair but thy are totally worth it... the back of the hand isnt super hard like my old rpm pros but dang if ur a goalie u should be used to the pain...
i found that if u really dont want to break ur thumb and u hate the extra piece that goalie gloves offer then u can tape up ur thumb before practices or games... this provides for extra stability of ur thumb and no bulky extra crap on the outside of ur glove... just personal preference from a converted pole... dang i love the defts...

i never paid much attention to how i grip the shaft till i bought a pair of stx gladiator gloves.... i realized i tuck my thumb underneath my index finger, and goalie gloves wouldnt let me do that. so now i wear either some regular brine x-factor or brine supercross ..... havent ever broke my thumb.... knock on wood.
one thing i do look for is long cuffs, and i have noticed that brine has the longer cuffs than the other brands..... one of the reasons i still wear x-factors
