Play with a CPX. Broke it early in the fall requiring 6 stitches in my lip. Got a new one and had the same problem. 9 stitches the second time around. See url. I don't lead with my head and the helmets fit fine. Any suggestions besides a Ridell. Those things are ugly.

A defenseman on my team at Harding had the exact same problem with CPX and I have heard about several others with the same problem.

I dont know of any helmet that does not have any problems at all. My high school team is using Gait this year.

We've been using C-Pro's for years and haven't had that problem. I don't know enough about the differences between the two, though, to say if this will help you.

We are going with the Warrior Viking this year. I like the padding inside a lot better. I also like the sizing difference instead of using inserts to do that.

No matter what kind of helmet you wear, you could have the same problems. I've seen guys get their faces smashed in playing football and those helmets are SOLID. I think that you might just have had a string of bad luck. But I agree, the Riddells are really ugly.

We've been using the cpro for years, and all of a sudden, we've had a bout of concussions... 3 in 5 games.

I'm starting to wonder about c-pros.

You may think they are ugly, but I believe that the Riddell is the best helmet to prevent concussions. I have often recommended players get the Riddell after suffering concussions. If we had the money right now to switch team helmets, I would change over to the Riddell.

1/2 our team uses CPros, and the other 1/2 Riddell's. I personally like the CPro, cosmetically, but neither lid has given us any problems thus far. Just an opinion.

The riddell helmets are awesome, I play with a CPX but the riddell are more like football helmets with the air inserts. they hurt at first but its not a big deal. I like the riddell esp playing attack where you get hit in the head like its noones business. i havent had any problems with my CPX though

funny that u mention that defenseman corbin cuz i broke my face again today. i am freaking pissed. i dont understand why a lacrosse helmet is made so bad. i dont expect my helmet to be impervious but i dont want to be scared to hit people in fear of another set of stitches (first time 12 this time 9 in 2 spots). i
have an inkling to trust a company like ridell who has been making football helmets since before cascade has been making helmets. i never broke my face when i was wearing one for 10 years as a kid.
i haven't seen many football players break their faces... twice. i just wish they weren't so freaking ugly.

Here is a question:
What happens when all our teams are to have matching helmets, say CPXs, and one player needs a Riddell because of concusions? Does the whole team need to switch over? Or is their a waiver that the player can receive to allow the non-uniform helmet?

I think the color just has to be the same. Not the same exact brand.

Granted your team is sponsored by Gait or you are getting deals through them.......but they look like storm troopers.

I should have edited that a long time ago. We actually went with CPro's because Gait couldn't do the color scheme that we wanted.

Gait is actually coming out with a new helmet sometime soon. I believe that a couple NCAA schools are using them. When I get more information I'll update it.

Tony - sorry your face is all busted up. Have your girlfriend kiss it better and buy you a Riddell.
