Composite shafts. To flex or not to flex?

Postby Dylan Dickey on Tue Nov 01, 2005 10:04 pm

Received Great Atlantic's November 2005 catalog today.

There are three composite shafts available...Brine Python Composite, Brine Python Optra Carbon Composite, and Warrior Connor Gill Signature Hero.

The descriptions of all three read:

Brine Python Composite
Lightweight composite technology that offers excellent strength and won't bend or flex. Features a Comfort Grip finish.

Brine Python Optra Carbon Composite
Carbon-composite technology that delivers tremendous strength and is extremely light. Features a Comfort Grip finish.

Warrior Conor Gill Signature Hero
As MLL's MVP in 2004, Conor Gill is one of the world's hottest lacrosse pros. That's why Warrior called upon him to help develop a handle that pushes the limits of composite technology with its superlight and amazingly strong shaft. The carbon composite is designed to generate unreal flex, producing unmatched torque for fast shots. Features a new soft grip finish and Warrior's incredible temperature controlled coating that makes the handle stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Available in Conor Gill's Signature colors, black and white, only.

Now, with all that said...one states it won't bend or flex, another states it is designed to generate unreal flex.

So, which is "better", flex or no flex?

I know a little bit about conservation of energy...and my first thoughts are that I wouldn't want a stick that flexes.

Your thoughts?

Dylan
