Brine XP vs Cascade CPX
Pros/Cons? Anyone had any problems with them? how strong are the facemasks and would it be worth buying a titanium mask?

crappy helmet

Postby Mavlax25 on Fri Feb 11, 2005 3:20 am

I'm sorry to rag on any companies product, but the Brine helmet is just crap. It looks horrible, has a ton on side wobble, and just looks stupid. Not to mention the fact that the bars in the mask make it tough to see. I don't think I have a deformed head or anything, so if anyone else just hates this helmet post. Our team got a large order of them and have it seems like most of them like it. I have a gait helmet before. it's ugly as sin, but it fits very well and is cheap.

I'd wear Salisbury's brine helmets, Syracuse's brine helmets, and Pete Jokisch's CSU brine helmet from fall ball ANYDAY.

Have any of you seen/played with the new Warrior helmets? I checked one out this fall, and it might be partly because the helmet was all white, but it looked like a giant egg to me... pretty ugly

Helmets

We tried them all before ordering this year and chose the CPX. It's a great overall product with great vision.

I love my CPX I got this year. The only thing about it from the C-Pros is that it seemed to take a little while to get to fit right and get use to. But I think it's awesome now. Also I'm pretty suprised that Cuse is going with the Brine helmets. I loved their CPX's from last year, I understand that Brine is their main sponsor now but it's still suprising. I wonder what they did with those helmets from last year I thought they were the best looking in lacrosse period.

Word on the street (aka laxpower board) that Cuse only went with Brine helmets for fall, they still have a year left with their cascade helmets. Also, the player voted and perferred the Cascade. Don't know if it is true, but hopefully they go with the CPX.

Yeah can we all please keep our fingers crossed that Cuse will stick with the CPX's the Brines just don't do it for them. Please keep the best helmet in the game alive. Thanks for the info Matt.

With so much potential personal injury floating around with helmets, you'd think it'd be up to the individual to be able to wear whatever helmet they prefer. Since money is thrown into the equation, it makes things a little stickier. I look at the Triad and I don't see that being safer than anything Cascade makes.

I just got a CPX, and the field of vision is really good....however its kinda hard to get the goalie throat guard to fit as well as it does on the C-pro

The CPX helmet is a great helmet I would suggest it to anyone, you have great vision with it, and it is a solid helmet.

THe brine on the on the other hand I know some the have had them and the chin guard broke, and they look just ugly anyway. another ugly, bulky helmet is the Warrior.

Since I've got all the helmet experts on here - my son who is in 8th grade (with a fat head - must be genetic!) has a Cascade helmet I bought a year and a half ago. He's complaining that it's tight and wants a new one. (I think they actually came in sizes and I probably got a medium then).
I was checking some of the prices on the CPX tha is touted on here - yikes! - $160!
The site I was on still has a basic Cascade at $99. Is it that bad? Not worth the money? Worth stepping up to the CPX? He'll play 8th grade this year and hopefully 4 years of high school.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!
