New Goalie

Got a HS guy who is serious about becoming a goalkeeper. He's kind of slight in build but with excellent vision, stick skills and quickness. Can you keepers out there make your best recommendations for equipment? Especially interested in chest protector preferences, heads, pockets and shafts. Thanks.

Chest Protector: Gait Sentinel - it is made out of that memory foam stuff that disperses energy.

Head: STX Eclipse - an oldie but definetely the best on the market

Mesh: Mega (Wide Diamond) - a lot of goalies I have worked with and talked to really like the durability of the wide diamond mesh. It also has a good consistent release or something like that.

Shafts: really just go with whatever is really light. Look at the Warrior Krypto Pro, Gait DB 803 or one of the new Brine shafts.

Pocket: whatever enables him to throw.

I have a chest protector that has been discontinued, but I wouldnt trade it for the world. Its the Brine BCP or something like that. Minimal restriction in movement.

I use an STX Eclipse. I am looking at possibly getting a STX Guardian. It seems to be a stripped down version of the Eclipse as far as I can tell.

I love 14-diamond mesh for a goalie stick. Its great. You can get it at Jimay lax or whatever its called. I think Rock-it Pocket also sells it. And Rock-it Pocket sells a goalie stringing that looks pretty promising.

I use a warrior titanium shaft, although I probably dont need it. I would suggest the KryptoPro. Ive heard nothing but good things about that one.
