Goalie stringing and pockets

Postby UofMLaxGoalie11 on Sun Mar 19, 2006 5:39 pm

Ive strung all my own sticks since 8th grade, but I was just wondering if people had some tips on stringing and forming a pocket for a goalie stick.

i know onething to remember is symmatry [spelling?] this way everything is the same and it will throw straight and not off to the side.

anyone got a site with links on different ways to string one?

i normally just do the "carcaterra magic wand" but on the side walls i twist them once so it kinda looks like a loop

any preferance on shaft length for you? i like mine 1-2" smaller than typical goalie length, but i have seen some people with middie shafts on their stick and some with theirs 2-3" longer than goalie length

There are few commercial goalie pockets out there. I am aware that Rock-it Pocket is having some success with the pocket they've devoloped, but you'll have to wait in line, my team is on the waiting list for two of them.

Their pocket seems to be strung tighter to the sidewall, but still has decent depth, primarily in the throwing channel.

I'm not a goalie but I've strung more than a few goalie sticks. I have found it easier to throw if the mesh is strung tight against the sidewall but the goalies I know have liked the give if they are strung looser. I really like the Gait Sentinel just for stringing purposes.

what is so special about the rock-it pocket goalie stringing? It looks just like a regular job.
