Riddell Helmets

Postby schelitzche on Fri Nov 30, 2007 4:49 pm

I spoke to our Riddell sales rep the other day and here is the deal with the Riddell helmets being heavier. The previous model was 4 oz's heavier than other helmets, usually compared to Cascade. They have redesigned their helmet, that actually looks like a Cascade, and it is now 1 oz. heavier, small enough for most not to know the difference.

They are also now associated with ONYX LACROSSE which I have not seen anyone bring up yet. Used to be Shamrock Lacrosse. New site should be out soon. Stuff looks OK.

As for Harrow equipment, UTA this year switched from the Gladiator by STX and went with the Harrow stock glove - with an embroidered touch.

To a man everyone on the team loves the Harrow glove over the gladiator and after wearing them myself, i can understand why. As you pull it out of the bag, it is practically game ready. Has a tighter fit and is not as bulky as the Gladiator that we were using. The glove has a great look and offers a lot of protection.

We have a couple of guys using Harrow shafts, and seem to be relatively pleased with them.

I don't know when exactly, but Nike is suppose to be introducing gear sometime within the next year. We got a hold of a bunch of the new Talon cleats. They're awesome, superlight, and grippy without having huge spikes. Great for turf and field. We also got Nike lax gear bags. They're just the right size. Kind of in between the current big and small, like a medium-large. Tons of storage pockets and other features. Hope the rest of their line turns out as well.

Anyone know what vendors are going to be at nationals this year? I know someone from Brine was there last year. It would be nice to be able to test out some of the new gear everyone is talking about.
