UPDATED! UPDATED! UPDATED! (8/19/05)

Dear all teams looking to travel,

This is what you have been waiting for. Held on Feb 18-19 in beautiful Orange County, California this is the first year our fields have been open for multi-game interleague play.

Due to the 3 out of conference games each team is required to qualify for the national tournament I have set aside a weekend that would help you knock all three games out in one go in an attempt to save you money. But lets get on to the better stuff:

Currently the following teams ARE attending:

A Teams
Chapman University
University of Utah
Texas State University
Washington
UC Davis
Gonzaga Univeristy
UCLA

B Teams
UCI
Claremont College
Pacific Lutheran
USD

Teams that are awaiting confirmation
UCSB (A)
Calvin College (B)
St. John's (MN) (B)

There will be a $200 entry fee. That is only to cover field time, field lining, atheletic trainers, staffing.

St John's (B) may be interested

Ben:

This is a great idea and would be even better if you held it during spring break. I will check with my St John's (MN) team to see if the Feb. dates will work. We went to the Tournament in Arlington, Texas last Feb. and had a great time. However, I know the Johnnies will want to see some good competition and the sand, sea and babes of Orange County California.

Personally, I think President's Day Weekend is the perfect time for a spring tourney. Everyone has different spring breaks, but we all have that 3-day weekend off.

I know Pacific Lutheran is very excited at the opportunity to play 3 top-25 B teams in one weekend and meet the league mandate for out-of-conference play. . .assuming of course that the league expands the B tourney (let's hope so) to allow 3 or 4 at-large bids.

Great Job UCI for putting this weekend together.

about the at-large bids, has anyone heard what the inside chatter is about that? it would be a shame for some of the top teams to miss out on the chance to compete tournament because each conference only allows one team to go to nationals just like the very competitive claremont or plu last year. if anyone knows shed some knowledge.
