Self crosses the continent

CP) - Brad Self has tied his own record for longest commute to and from a National Lacrosse League game.

The St. Mary's University student travelled for 12 hours from Halifax to Los Angeles via Toronto to meet up with his Colorado Mammoth teammates for a practice in Anaheim, Calif., last Thursday night, and he scored a goal in a 13-12 win over the Storm the following night.

Self flew back across the continent on Saturday and was an intellectual sponge for an economics lecture on labour relations on Monday morning. Apparently, his eyes were open.

"It's tough on the body and the mind to fly that far for a game," he admits. "But I got a good sleep the night of the practice and during the game the adrenalin took over.

"My cardio was pretty good because of hockey. I felt pretty good but I was nowhere near where I want to be. I was fatigued after the game, that's for sure."
