(CP) - This is going to be the biggest weekend, in terms of exposure, in lacrosse history.

The first live broadcast of a game on U.S. major network television at 2 p.m. EST Saturday will provide the National Lacrosse League all-star game from Calgary to more than 150 million homes worldwide. It's a bonanza for a blue-collar sport aching for and deserving of exposure.

"It's a huge opportunity for the league," says Toronto Rock attacker Blaine Manning, who'll start for the East. "I think you'll see one of the most competitive all-star games you'll ever see in any sport.

"We want to show what the sport of lacrosse is all about and the only way to do that is to play hard so I expect it to be a fast and hard-hitting game."

Blue-collar sport?? Lacrosse has got to be very high on the list of perceived preppie play! Perhaps it was growing up in Connecticut, a public school player surrounded by all the prep schools. (At that time there were only 3 public HS's in CT playing lacrosse. I was on the bad one - never winning a game in three years of trying!
