Glendale, AZ - Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Tuesday the signing of forwards Lindsay Plunkett and Andy Secore to one-year contracts, pending league approval. As per club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

“We’re expecting big things from Andy and Lindsay this year and we’re looking forward to getting them in camp,” said Hamley. “Andy is a talented young player with a lot of potential and we’re looking forward to seeing how he performs in an expanded role this season. Lindsay has played well for us over the years and we hope his experience will lead to some big numbers in 2007.”

As a rookie in 2006, Secore averaged a point-per-game for the Sting, finishing the campaign with 3GP-0G-3A-3P. Arizona acquired the 5’11”, 195 lb. forward on October 12, 2005 in a trade that sent defenseman Rob Kirkby to the Calgary Roughnecks. The Sting also picked up a first-round draft pick in the deal. A standout player at the junior level as a member of the Six Nations Arrows, Secore was named MVP of the Ontario Junior Lacrosse Association in 2003 after tallying 90 points (43G-47A) in only 20 games. The native of Hamilton, Ontario registered 3G-12A-15P at the 2005 Minto Cup Tournament as his squad finished in second place to the Burnaby Lakers. This past summer, Secore registered 31G-34A-65P in 18 games with the Western Lacrosse Association's Coquitlam Adanace. In the WLA playoffs, the 22-year old led his team in points with 26 (13G-13A) as the Adanacs fell to the Victoria Shamrocks in a hard fought seven-game opening round series.

The Sting acquired Lindsay Plunkett, along with a 2007 fourth-round draft pick, at the NLL trade deadline last season in a deal that sent forward Jason Crosbie to the Buffalo Bandits. In six games with the Sting down the stretch, Plunkett registered 8G-16A-24P. In conjunction with stats from Buffalo, the 26-year old totaled 13GP-17G-25A-42P on the season. In the playoffs, Lindsay scored a hat trick in the Sting’s opening round win over Portland and contributed 1G-2A-3P in the West Division Final against Colorado. The 6’3”, 210 lb. forward saw action in 20 games with the Sting in 2004 and 2005, tallying 25G-37A-62P over the course of his first two seasons in the Valley of the Sun. His 16 career post-season assists are the most in team history.

Originally drafted by the Rochester Knighthawks in the first round (8th overall) of the 2000 NLL Entry Draft, Plunkett has scored 52 goals and dished out 73 assists for 125 points in 44 career games as a member of the Ottawa Rebel, Buffalo Bandits, and Arizona Sting.
