The National Lacrosse league might move to four-on-four play some day, but don't expect it to happen anytime soon.
The league refused comment on the issue, but multiple sources confirmed that a pilot program quietly began two weeks ago in Six Nations. There, a three-hour NLL prospects game was played with four players plus a goalie per side.
Currently, five non-goaltenders take the floor per team.
Rock director of lacrosse operations Mike Kloepfer said that while the league constantly is looking at ways to improve the game, many teams are against four-on-four play and it is nowhere close to being implemented.
