MAMMOTH RETIRE GAIT'S NUMBER 22

December 30, 2005

Gary Gait addressess the crowd at Pepsi Center during a ceremony in which the Mammoth retired his number 22.
Prior to the NLL season opener on Friday night, the Colorado Mammoth retired the number 22 that was previously worn by Gary Gait. Gait, who retired from a 15-year playing career after last season, retired as the league's all-time leading scorer with 1,091 career points. After raising his number 22 to the Pepsi Center rafters, Gait took his place behind the bench as the new head coach of the Colorado Mammoth.

Gait thanked his family, former teammates and the fans of Colorado for their unwavering support over the years. Gait's number becomes only the second number in league history to have been retired by his team. The Buffalo Bandits retired the #43 worn by Darris Kilgour a few seasons ago.

The Mammoth also presented Gait with a brand new motorcycle as part of the ceremony and Gait's son Braedon played the National Anthem on his guitar prior to opening faceoff.
