The Toronto Rock enters a home-and-home series tonight against the Rochester Knighthawks with the National Lacrosse League's only undefeated record, a lethal power play and a demonstrated ability to scare the daylights out of teams with its scoring prowess.
However, there is that little matter of having allowed an average of 14 goals a game, worst in the league and an ugly blemish on what has otherwise been a successful 2-0 start.
And that's where reigning MVP Jim Veltman and veteran defender Glenn Clark come in, and not a moment too soon. After recovering from injuries, both will see their first action of the season tonight when the Rock hosts the Knighthawks before travelling to Rochester for a game tomorrow night.
Veltman has finally recovered from a hamstring pull he suffered before start of the season and Clark returns after a torn meniscus that has kept him out for six weeks.
As of yesterday afternoon, 14,000 tickets had been sold for tonight's game at the Air Canada Centre at 7:30 p.m.
