Grant earns pair of awards

The National Lacrosse League has announced that Rochester Knighthawks forward John Grant Jr. was named Overall and Offensive Player of the Week for Week #4. Grant scored five goals and added two assists for seven points in a 15-11 road win over the Anaheim Storm on Saturday. Grant also scored the game-winning goal and collected eight loose balls in the Knighthawks first win of the season.
Minnesota Swarm goaltender Matt Disher was named the Defensive Player of the Week. Disher recorded 38 saves and allowed eight goals in a 9-8 win over San Jose. Disher also denied all nine Stealth power-play opportunities and collected six loose balls in the victory. Disher did not play in Friday's loss to the Buffalo Bandits.
Ryan Boyle of the San Jose Stealth was named Rookie of the Week for his performance in a pair of games this past weekend. The Stealth forward scored three goals and added an assist for four points in a 14-13 win over Arizona on Friday. Boyle scored the game-winning goal and collected two loose balls in the victory. Boyle also scored three goals and added two assists for five points and scooped up six loose balls in a 9-8 loss to Minnesota on Saturday. Boyle is the first two-time award winner of the season as he was also named Rookie of the Week in Week #2.
