The Calgary Roughnecks have looked to an old face for help in the faceoff circle.

The defending National Lacrosse League champions announced yesterday they've signed 27-year-old Jordan Sundher, who played for the club in its expansion season in 2001-02.

The 5-ft. 10-in., 190-lb. Sundher won 172 of 336 faceoffs that year and is third all-time in draws won for the club.

Since losing Rob Kirkby and Brad MacArthur in the off-season, Calgary has struggled in the faceoff department and GM Dave Bremner said the club had to address the issue.

"We just have to win more faceoffs," said Bremner. "We've been weak in that position all season and in a league which has the parity we have, you just cannot afford to give away possessions."

The Riggers made a play for young forward and faceoff specialist Craig Conn at the trade deadline last week but weren't able to close the deal.
