SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Minnesota Swarm in conjunction with the Minnesota High School Press Association (MHSPA) and the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) today announced they will host a journalism contest for high school students on Friday, March 11 as part of the Minnesota Swarm game against the Buffalo Bandits at 7:30 PM at Xcel Energy Center. Participating students will cover the Swarm game in the Al Shaver Press Box and conduct interviews with a Swarm player following the game.
Approximately 30 high school students from Minnesota will participate in the areas of reporting, video and still photography. Participants will compete for the opportunity to have their winning story and photograph printed in a future Swarm game program. In addition, professionals in the areas of photojournalism, media relations and broadcast communications will speak to the students prior to the start of the game.
This is the fourth year the Minnesota Wild and Swarm have partnered with the press associations to host this contest to support student interest in journalism. To become eligible for the contest, students were recommended by their advisors.
