Calgary, AB – Calgary Roughnecks General Manager Kurt Silcott announced today that the team has signed defencemen Jeff Moleski and Ryan Davis to one-year deals. Terms and conditions of the contracts were not disclosed.
"Jeff is one of the hardest working players in lacrosse. He plays good honest defense and is a threat in the transition game as well," said Kurt Silcott, Roughnecks General Manager. "His travel from Prince George is a bit of an issue, but he's always ready to go on game day."
Last season, Moleski's 2nd in the NLL, the Prince George, BC native played in 16 regular season games scoring 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists), picked up 93 loose balls and collected 22 penalty minutes in 2006.
Moleski, 24, has played in 28 career games tallying 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists), 145 loose balls and 49 penalty minutes. The 6'1" 210 lbs. was selected by the Roughnecks in the third round (34th overall) in the 2003 NLL Entry Draft.
Davis, a 6'5" 225 lb. native of Edmonton, was signed by the Roughnecks as a free agent in the summer of 2005. He has yet to play an NLL regular season game, but has appeared at the Founder's Cup in 2002, the Minto Cup in 2003 and 2004 and at the President's Cup in 2005 and 2006.
Davis's Sherwood Park Outlaws Senior B team, recently finished second at the 2006 Presidents Cup in New Westminster late August. Davis tied for first in scoring on the Outlaws during the tournament tallying 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) in 5 games.
