ALL-STAR GAME COACHES ANNOUNCED
NLL
February 7, 2006
The National Lacrosse League has announced the coaches that will lead the East and West Division teams in the 2006 All-Star Game. The East Division All-Stars will be coached by Rochester Knighthawks head coach Ed Comeau. Comeau will be assisted by Philadelphia Wings head coach Lindsay Sanderson. The West Division All-Stars will be coached by Arizona Sting head coach Bob Hamley. Hamley will be assisted by Calgary Roughnecks head coach Chris Hall. The league earlier announced the head coaches of the first and second place teams in each division after Week Six of the regular season would become the head coach and assistant coach, respectively, of the All-Star teams of their respective divisions. The 2006 All-Star Game will be played on Saturday, February 25th at Air Canada Centre, home of the Toronto Rock. Gametime is 4pm Eastern.
For the second year in a row, the East Division All-Stars will be coached by a Rochester Knighthawks head coach. This season Ed Comeau, who is in his first year as head coach for Rochester, will take the honors after leading the Knighthawks to an East Division best 4-1 record to start the season. Former Knighthawks coach Paul Day earned the honors last season and coached the East Division All-Stars to an 11-10 overtime victory in the 2005 All-Star Game. Comeau, currently on a four game win streak with the Knighthawks heading into Week Seven, will make his first appearance as an All-Star Game head coach.
The West Division All-Stars will be coached by Arizona Sting head coach Bob Hamley. The Sting guaranteed Hamley a spot on the West Division bench by securing a West Division best 3-1 record. Hamley, the league’s 2005 head coach and General Manager of the Year, will serve as Head coach in an All-Star game for the first time.
Lindsay Sanderson will serve as an assistant coach for the East Division All-Star team after leading the club to a 3-1 record to start the season. The Wings are currently second in the East Division behind Rochester.
Calgary Roughnecks head coach Chris Hall will serve as the assistant coach for the West Division. Hall has led the Roughnecks to a 3-3 record.
Fan balloting for the 2006 All-Star Game is underway at NLL.com and will remain open until Wednesday, February 8th at 5:00 PM Eastern. Fans are able to select a starting lineup for the East and West teams consisting of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender. The fan vote will combine with the vote of league media and the team General Managers vote to determine the East and West starting lineups. Each will account for one-third of the total vote for the starting lineups. Click Here to find out how to vote!
