Rochester Knighthawks forward John Grant Jr. was named the Overall Player of the Month and Philadelphia Wings forward Sean Greenhalgh was named the Rookie of the Month for the month of January. Grant had a strong month to start the 2006 season, scoring 32 points (19g, 13a) in five games played, including a league leading 19 goals. Wings rookie forward Sean Greenhalgh had a solid start to his NLL career tallying 17 points (7g, 10a) in four games played for Philadelphia, including an eight point (4g, 4a) performance in his NLL debut in Week One. The monthly player awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers of the league’s eleven member clubs.
John Grant Jr. earned the Overall Player of the Month Award for January after leading the Knighthawks to an East Division best 4-1 record in the first month of action. The veteran forward scored 32 points on 19 goals and 13 assists in January and currently leads the league in total goals with 19. The four-time All-Pro also collected 31 loose balls in the first month of the season. In January Grant was named the Overall and Offensive Player of the Week in Week Five after totaling 17 points in two games that weekend.
Philadelphia Wings rookie forward Sean Greenhalgh captured the January Rookie of the Month Award. Greenhalgh totaled seven goals and ten assists for 17 points and collected 14 loose balls in four games for the Wings in January. Greenhalgh is currently second in points for the Wings (19) and tied for first on the club with seven goals. The Wings went 3-1 in January and finished the month second in the East Division standings. The Cornell University graduate was named the Overall Player of the Week, Offensive Player of the Week, and Rookie of the Week in Week One. Greenhalgh scored eight points (4g, 4a) in his NLL debut and led the Wings to a 13-11 road win over the Colorado Mammoth in the season opener.
