JAX PLAY BACK-TO-BACK GAMES THIS WEEKEND

Eliuk Named Defensive Player of the Week and Merrill Named Rookie of the Week By NLL

This is a big weekend for the LumberJax (1-1) as they play their first round of back to back games starting Friday at San Jose and ending Saturday in Portland against Calgary. The first game against the Stealth (2-2) should be a good rematch after the Jax won their exhibition game against San Jose (13-9). The Portland franchise comes home on Saturday to face the Calgary Roughnecks (3-2) in the Rose Garden at 7:30p for their second home game. The first home game last Saturday played to a near capacity crowd of 9,916.

The National Lacrosse League also recognized two Jax players this week: Dallas Eliuk as Defensive Player of the Week and Brodie Merrill as Rookie of the Week. This comes after both players contributed to the win against Colorado last weekend. Eliuk had 53 saves throughout the game, and Merrill had 13 loose balls, one goal, and added one assist. Merrill and Eliuk are the first two LumberJax to earn the NLL Weekly Awards.

The Jax will play in San Jose on Friday at 7:30p and fans can catch all the action online via the B2 network (Go to PortlandJax.com for a link to the B2 network). People who can not make it to the game on Saturday can watch the Jax match-up against Calgary live on Comcast TV14 (CNW-14) or listen to it on KCMD 970AM (joined in progress after the WinterHawks game).

University of Oregon and Oregon State University will continue a long rivalry this Saturday as the lacrosse teams face each other at the Rose Garden from 3-5p. While already holding tough rivalries in nearly every other sport, the two universities have never gone head to head in box lacrosse. A ticket to the LumberJax vs. Calgary game will give you admission to the OSU vs. University of Oregon lacrosse game.

Fans can watch all the LumberJax games on their computers via B2 networks for $6.00. Go to PortlandJax.com and click on the B2 link. A high-speed connection is required. Live game night scores can be found at: http://pointstreak.com.

LumberJax are owned by the youngest majority owner in professional sports, 25-year-old Angela Batinovich, who relocated permanently to Portland, OR from California. The LumberJax are one of 11 teams in the NLL and will play eight of the sixteen regular season games at the Rose Garden, which is owned by Portland Arena Management LLC. Global Spectrum, the facility management company for the Rose Quarter, serves as the sales, marketing, promotional, and publicity arm of the LumberJax.
