Colorado Mammoth announce new logo
December 05, 2005
from press releases
A stylized graphic featuring a ferocious, tusked behemoth from the Ice Age has been unveiled as the secondary logo of the National Lacrosse League's Colorado Mammoth.
"The design is a playful, but tough-looking representation of a mammoth," said Kelley Kocher, executive director of creative services for Kroenke Sports. "We've never shown the actual beast in any of our graphic representations so this will be a fun new twist for fans."
The team's primary logo remains an "M" that curves into tusks, one of which represents a "C" for Colorado.
Kocher said the six-month design process was done with input from a variety of sources including Kroenke Sports creative staff and Mammoth general manager Steve Govett.
"This is a fun project but it certainly isn't taken lightly," Govett said. "This is a fairly permanent symbol of the team that represents our players, our staff and our fans."
The secondary logo may be used in uniform applications, on marketing materials and on team merchandise.
Retail merchandise bearing the new logo, including sweatshirts, caps, t-shirts and polo shirts, is available online this week at AltitudeAuthentics.com and at Altitude Authentics at Pepsi Center. Reebok is supplying a majority of the Mammoth merchandise, most of which will be available by the team's season-opener on Dec. 30.
