CALGARY (CP) - Jeremy Richardson, the Calgary Roughnecks third round pick in the 2002 National Lacrosse League entry draft, has died of cancer.

Richardson, 23, was playing for the Edmonton Miners Jr. A team when he was drafted by the Roughnecks, 27th overall. For the past two seasons, he has been an assistant coach with the Miners.

"Jeremy was a wonderful lacrosse player with great potential," said Roughnecks head coach Chris Hall on Tuesday.
