DENVER, Colo. - Attackman Brendan Mundorf scored a game-high five goals and added an assist as the Denver Outlaws (4-3) won their second straight game, a 22-14 victory over the Chicago Machine (1-6) in a Major League LacroSse game at INVESCO Field at Mile High on Wednesday evening.

The game was played before an MLL-record crowd of 19,793 fans, shattering the previous mark of 15,981, which was set by the Outlaws last year when they hosted Los Angeles.

Led by a pair of goals by midfielder Brian Langtry, the Outlaws took a 3-1 lead in the opening five minutes of the game. However, the Machine responded by scoring five straight points, including a pair of goals from Athan Iannucci, to take a 6-3 with 5:47 remaining in the first quarter.

Mundorf cut the Denver deficit to 6-4 with his first goal of the game off an assist from midfielder Geoff Snider with 5:32 remaining in the period.

Trailing by two to start the second quarter, the Outlaws went on an 8-1 run over the first 12 minutes of the second quarter for a commanding 12-7 advantage with 2:48 left in the first half. Mundorf scored three goals during the run while attackman Scott Sowanick and midfielder Mike Law each added a goal with an assist.

The two teams traded goals five times during a 14-minute span before attackman Kevin Leveille ended the exchanges with an assisted marker with 1:13 left in the third quarter. But, the Outlaws ended any hopes of a Chicago comeback by scoring five goals in the first 11 minutes of the fourth quarter, giving Denver a nine-point lead. Midfielder Dan Deckelbaum scored with 35 seconds left to score the game’s final goal, an unassisted tally past goalkeeper Alex Smith.

Mundorf was named as the Bud Light MVP after recording his third five-goal performance in the last five games. Law and midfielder Jeff Sonke each scored three goals with an assist while Langtry added three goals in the victory.

Iannucci led Chicago with four goals while Leveille had three goals. Midfielder Nicholas Schmidt scored twice, including a two-point tally, and posted an assist.

Next up for the Outlaws is the All-Star break, followed by a July 14 game in L.A. against the Riptide.
