Alan Smith Jr. of UNC made a great impression in training camp and will be either part of the 23 man active roster or 3 man practice squad this upcoming season for the Denver Outlaws. He was very impressive over the three weekends and got better every time. Depending on what happens with Garibaldi and Bluse in Chicago, this brings us up to 5 ex-clubbers in the league. Congrats, Alan!

To the best of my knowledge...
Outlaws - Alex Smith (CSU), Alan Smith (UNC)
Machine - Bluse (CU), Garibaldi (Auburn)
Dragons - Hays (UCSD)

We did offer Bluse (CU) a contract. He is currently listed on the practice squad but he had a great camp and could easily move up.

Garibaldi (Auburn) impressed everyone. He is a great athlete and was a pleasure to have around but when it was said and done the staff felt that he was not as talented as the middies we kept. With a little work he could easily find his way on a roster next season.

It is difficult to get the roster down to 23. Everyone out there has the ability to play at a high level.

Alex or AJ...do the teams pick up the travel expense for players that do not work/live in the team's home town? Meaning, if a player has to fly in for a home game, does the team cover that expense?

Yes, which makes a player living in town or willing to relocate very appealing. Not at the expense of talent but if two players are equal and one lives in town he would be in a better position to make the team.

Former USLIA/MCLA players currently in the NLL:

Peter Morgan (Simon Fraser) - Portland Lumberjax
Curtis Hodgson (Simon Fraser) - San Jose Stealth

Former USLIA/MCLA players that have played in the NLL:

Andrew Martin (Simon Fraser) - Philadelphia, Minnesota, San Jose
Athen Yuen (Simon Fraser) - Anaheim Storm
Danny Ernst (Oregon) - He spent a year with Portland, but I think he was just on the practice roster and didn't get into any games.

Mike Napollili (CSU) - Colorado Mammoth, I think he was like Ernst and just on the practice squad but still pretty dang good
