Bayhawks move to San Diego or Dallas?

I was reading an older online editorial from last month talking about the Bayhawks move from Baltimore to Washington. LINK:
http://www.examiner.com/a-388509~Lack_o ... hawks.html

Check out this quote from former Bayhawk team owner Gordan Boone at the very end of the article:

Boone, whose only involvement in the MLL now is as a draft advisor for the Long Island Lizards, said he and his former ownership partners offered to help the new group of owners, led by Jeffrey Harvey and Bayhawks coach Scott Hiller, with marketing. In the first season under the new ownership, the team’s attendance slipped from an average of 4,802 per game to 2,973 per game.

“They did not want anything to do with any of us, as far as local connections,” Boone said. “I wish they had reached out to us during the transition. They might still be here.”

As a former owner, Boone had knowledge on where the league was looking to expand. He said he does not see the team sticking around D.C. for more than one season.

I see them ending up in San Diego or Dallas in 2008,” Boone said. “That is where there was some interest.”

I know they are eyeing Pizza Hut Park in Frisco (north of Dallas), but I wonder where they would play in SD?

I say bring them on to Dallas! Pizza Hut Park is a great atmosphere for soccer. It would be interesting to try a lacrosse game in it sometime. :)

I'm actually surprised it took this long for the Bayhawks to leave. IMHO, the future of the MLL lies in the areas where Lacrosse is expanding, that are far from traditional "hotbed" areas such as Baltimore.

I agree

DALLAS

I think we will be able to see what Pizza Hut Park can do with Lacrosse at Nationals.

We are moving steps closer.

Conference Championships at a great stadium like Ford Field and Nationals at the Park, a great month of Lacrosse is coming.

Pizza Hut Park would be a great home for a MLL team. I was just there for Nationals and it was a very nice complex. As another former D.C. resident, I also am glad to have a team there now, but I think that the teams would be better placed in areas like Dallas, on the West Coast, or in Minnesota..which is where i live now. The areas where lacrosse is growing has the market that is hungry for the game. Putting teams in this area would definitely draw a crowd.

I wish Minnesota were more feasible, but I don't know if there is a location that would make it economically viable. Missed Blaine in 2005 so I don't know if it is too far away from the high school programs up there. I think Minnesota would be a nice little nice market for the MLL. It would be cool to get the MLL to 12 teams for next year.
