Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today that they have named Paul Deniken the Scouting Coordinator for the 2006 Barrage season. Deniken will evaluate current college seniors for the 2006 Collegiate Draft as well as other MLL players for new talent to bring to the Barrage. He will provide feedback to the coaching staff on the different players, which will aid the coaches' decisions with any trades and the selections in the draft.
"Paul will be a tremendous addition to the Barrage staff. He brings a wealth of knowledge about personnel to the table based on his experience in coaching and playing with the Wings," said General Manager, Keith Mecca.
"I'm happy to be apart of another successful Philadelphia organization", said Deniken, "and I look forward to a very successful 2006 season."
Deniken played nine years with the Philadelphia Wings (1990-1998) where he was a member of four World Championship teams and holds the record of being the fifth all-time leading goal scorer. Deniken returned to the Wings as an assistant coach from 2002-2004. He was an USCLA All-Club team member, a member of the 2002 U.S. Men's Lacrosse team and a master's division champion. He was also a camp director for eight years at the Keystone All-Star Lacrosse Camp as well as a nine-year assistant lacrosse coach at West Chester East High School. He played lacrosse at Washington College where he was named an All-American. Deniken is a West Chester Henderson graduate.
Philadelphia opens their season on May 20 at historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by five games at Villanova University.
