San Francisco, CA - The San Francisco Dragons announce the hiring of Scott Hochstadt as Offensive Coordinator and Patrick Brown as Assistant Coach. Hochstadt brings a wealth of both collegiate and professional lacrosse experience to San Francisco for the 2006 season. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he was selected to the All America Lacrosse team (1997-99) leading the Terrapins to two National Championship game appearances in 1997 and 1998. Hochstadt was selected to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament Team all four years and served as an assistant lacrosse coach at the University of Maryland in 2000.
On the professional level, he played in the MLL with the Bridgeport Barrage in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and also played in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) with the Buffalo Bandits in 2000 and the Anaheim Storm in 2003 and 2004 before suffering a career ending injury. "Scott is one of the great young minds in the game today," said Doug Locker, General Manager of the team. "I believe the players will really enjoy playing for him in San Francisco."
Locker also is excited to have a local talent join the Dragons coaching staff. "Patrick Brown has extensive experience as a player/coach, and his commitment to the game in the San Francisco Bay Area is commendable," said Locker. Brown was a standout goalie at West Chester University (PA) from 1987-91. He also served as a Captain in both his junior and senior years.
He has been involved with lacrosse at all levels since he graduated from West Chester most recently with the Marin Lacrosse Club. He has coached at Piedmont High School in San Jose and is currently coaching the West Valley Redhawks in Saratoga. Brown is also the Director of Corporate Funding for Lacrosse for Life, a non-profit organization bringing the game of lacrosse to underserved communities.
