Scott Hiller recently became a part-owner of the Bayhawks.
Despite a 2005 championship and signs toward prosperity, the Baltimore Lacrosse Association recently sold the Baltimore Bayhawks to a group led by former Boston Cannons head coach Scott Hiller.
Bayhawks founding partners Dave Pivec, Gordon Boone, Chris Hutchins and Ray Schulmeyer completed the final sale earlier this week, Hiller said in a phone interview Thursday. Hiller and associate Jeff Harvey will take over as owner/operators of the franchise, backed by a group of private investors.
“Baltimore is the heart of lacrosse and that’s where we wanted to be,” said Hiller.
Hiller and Harvey will oversee the business and marketing operations and will provide input in the front office duties. Head coach Gary Gait has committed to one more season in his dual player/coach role, said Hiller, and the team is currently interviewing for the open GM position.
