BOSTON, Mass. - Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional lacrosse league, announced Monday its weekly award winners for the week ending June 10, 2007, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. Rochester Rattlers attackman Casey Powell was named as the league's Offensive Player of the Week while San Francisco Dragons defenseman Eric Martin earned the Defensive Player of the Week award.

In addition, a pair of Denver Outlaws earned weekly honors as goalkeeper Trevor Tierney was named as the Goalkeeper of the Week and rookie attackman Drew Westervelt received the Cascade Rookie of the Week award.

Powell earned the Offensive Player of the Week award after scoring four goals with four assists in the Rattlers' first win of the season, a 21-14 victory over the New Jersey Pride at PAETEC Park on Friday evening. He has scored seven of his eight goals in the last two games and leads the Rattlers with 15 points.

Meanwhile, Martin was a key contributor in the Dragons' first win of the season, a 15-14 victory over Chicago on Sunday. He recorded a game-high nine ground balls while holding Chicago attackman Sean Morris to one goal and one assist. In addition, he scored the game-tying goal with 4:19 remaining, a two-point goal which was part of San Francisco's late four-point comeback.

Tierney recorded a season-high 27 saves in the Outlaws' 18-15 win over Los Angeles on Saturday night, including 11 in the fourth quarter. He also held the Riptide to just four goals in the first half. Meanwhile, Westervelt had an outstanding MLL debut after scoring four goals with three assists en route to being named Bud Light MVP. The fourth overall pick in the Collegiate Draft, Westervelt helped the University of Maryland, Baltimore County reach the NCAA quarter-finals as a senior.
