The San Francisco Dragons have re-signed defenseman Eric Martin and middie Chris Rotelli for the 2007 season, the team announced Tuesday.
Martin is coming off an exceptional 2006 season, in which he was named to the All Pro Team, and Rotelli comes off a season in which he scored 15 goals and added 10 assists.
Martin, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound graduate of Salisbury University, returns for his second season with the Dragons and fourth in Major League Lacrosse after starting in all 12 regular season games and the MLL semifinal in 2006. He was selected to the All Pro Team after leading the
team in ground balls (55), while scoring four goals and adding two assists. Martin was acquired in a blockbuster trade with Rochester on April 21, 2006, in the same deal that brought Ryan Powell to San Francisco.
Rotelli, a 5-foot-10 180-pound graduate of the University of Virginia, started in all 12 regular season games and the MLL semifinal in 2006. Rotelli will enter his fifth MLL season in 2007. He was originally selected by the Dragons in the first round (2nd overall) in the 2006 expansion draft.
"Chris and Eric are two of the MLL’s best, and we are grateful for their continued commitment to our organization and the fans of San Francisco," Dragons General Manager Doug Locker said. "They are both not only great players and key to our success, they are also very visible members of the Bay Area lacrosse community."
