Interesting stuff from that article...

The challenge for the San Francisco Dragons' new owners is to translate the sport's rising appeal into commercial success. Game tickets will sell for around $8, said Chris Bulger, who runs youth lacrosse camps and is part of the San Francisco Dragons ownership group. Other owners are Charlie Biggs, who works with Bulger on the lacrosse camps, and hedge fund manager Mike Levitt. The trio is bullish on pro lacrosse's chances in California, buying the rights to a San Diego team that might be part of yet another league expansion in 2008.

Kezar is key

The Dragons' owners continue negotiations with the city of San Francisco to use Kezar Stadium to play six home games between May and August next year. Some neighborhood opposition to liquor sales at the games has held up completion of an agreement.

Assuming the Kezar contract is finalized in January, when a city committee takes up the issue again, the Dragons' owners can start assembling a fan base by mining their contacts among Bay Area lacrosse coaches and players. Low ticket prices as well as the speed of the game will lure new fans, Bulger said. The Dragons' owners want to draw at least 5,000 people per game.
