Major League Lacrosse Announces Expansion Draft Order

MLL Finalizes Draft Orders for 2006 Supplemental and Collegiate Drafts as Well

Boston, MA (October 6, 2005) – Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today the order for its Expansion Draft, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. The league's Expansion Draft takes place via conference call on November 1, 2005. The MLL will expand to four new cities in 2006: Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco. All four teams will take part in the Expansion Draft. In addition, the draft order for the 2006 Supplemental and Collegiate Drafts was determined. All ten teams will take part in those two drafts.

A selection draft order was determined at random, allowing Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, in that order, to select which picks in which of the three drafts (Expansion, Supplemental, Collegiate) they wanted.

Chicago chose first, taking the first overall selection in the 2006 Collegiate Draft. Denver chose second, taking the second overall selection in the 2006 Collegiate Draft. Los Angeles and San Francisco rounded out the first round of selections, taking the first and second overall picks in the 2006 Expansion draft respectively. The process was repeated, reversing the order each time, until the first four slots in each of the 2006 Collegiate, Supplemental, and Expansion Drafts were determined. The order among the Expansion Teams is reversed in each Draft round.
