Major League Lacrosse will hold a regular-season game in Cary June 21 as a way to gauge whether the Triangle could support one of its franchises.

League commissioner David Gross said Friday that the MLL has taken over the Philadelphia franchise this season. Philadelphia will play road games in potential markets as a way to evaluate interest in the sport.

“We want to see how people react. Can we sell tickets there?” Gross told WRAL.

Gross said an MLL franchise usually needs to average more than 5,000 fans to be financially viable.

Philadelphia will play Rochester at WakeMed Soccer Park in the match.

This is going to sound completely Biased, but what about Dallas.

No we are not a Traditional Lacrosse Market, but will the Barrage come through here at some point.

Every year there are more and more D1 games being played here, and every year the venue for the LSA Championships and the MCLA championships gets bigger and bigger. This year the LSA will play at Texas Stadium as will the MCLA Championships.

I hope that Texas does not get slighted hen the Barrage play their road games. We are ready for an MLL team.
Every year club teams around the state pop up and private schools add them.

rumor has it there will be an MLL game played in Texas Stadium over memorial day weekend. Sorry, but I'd rather be watching the semifinal games, so this better be played on Sunday.

Ever since the MLL started, I've been saying that they would do better with ticket sales if they stayed away from lacrosse hotbeds, such as Baltimore. From youth to amazing summer leagues (Heroes and Loch Raven for starters), national HS powers, 5 top D1 colleges within an hour and Delaware, Penn and Drexel not too much farther, there is so much lax to see in the area that the Bayhawks were just one more team. Additionally, they were a team that no one had emotional ties to at the start.

Now look at the Colorado Mammoth. Attendance has been through the roof. The MLL should be looking at Dallas before they go looking at the triangle. With two solid ACC teams within 30 min (in heavy traffic) of each other, no one is going to really care about a pro team. Unless the motivation is to try to center a team around where there might be a larger concentration of players. In that respect, I can see the triangle as being competitive.
