That was probably the hardest poll for division b for awhile. But a few surprises, Mines not in the top 25? They have a solid record and a close game to Montana State. Montana out or the top 10? with a combined 4 goal difference in the two b division losses to top 10 teams. Lastly, there is no WCLL team in the top 25 for as long as i can remember.

Maybe I'm just not in with the times, but I have to have an answer to this burning question in my head. Do any of the voters in this league, or any other league fr that matter, move a team up in the polls who has a quality LOSS against a ranked team? I was just wondering.

I dont move teams up for a close loss, or move a team down for a close win.

On the other side if I have Team A and Team B and I think they should go in the same spot X in the poll I will look at common opponents and then take the score into account. Besides that I pretty much just look at w/l and not as much at the scores. As far as I am concerned a win is a win and a loss is a loss.

close games

any game within three goals i think is a close game. And the 2 teams in it are pretty closly matched. I think that the majority of voters take this into account and vote.

Dayton

I am just wondering because i have never seen them play, but are they at the level to be receiving # 1 votes without playing anyone in the top 10 ?

I believe there may be a dayton supporter in the voters. This happened in the preseason poll with Augustana's head coach placement of a first place vote on his own team.

3 points betwwn the 1 & 2 is huge! 19 points between the 1-3... Wow, what a close race at the top.

I really can't believe Montana has fallen all the way to #11 - they are better than that for certain. . .but like everyone else they can win their way into the tournament in a couple of weeks. . .but winning the PNCLL tourney is going to be more difficult than ever with 5 teams in the top-25.

How is UVSC still at #4 after being beat by #9 WWU and #12 Fort Lewis? Montana dropped 6 spots with their losses to UVSC and Montana State. Two losses since the last poll and no one moved them down? I have to think that some voters didn't realize that UVSC lost to WWU. . .the game still shows on this site and laxpower that it was Linfield vs. UVSC - with no score posted.

Was Dayton's win over Purdue that impressive that it convinced someone that they are the best team in the country? I know they're good, but THEY DON'T PLAY A SINGLE TEAM IN THE TOP-25 this year. . . how can they be #1? If they're that good I can't understand why their schedule is so weak. . .they don't even play Calvin in the regular season. I don't get it. I know Calvin would love to prevent them from travelling to Texas this year. . .the CCLA playoffs will be fun to watch.

I am a staunch Dayton supporter. I did not vote them #1, but have considered doing so on every poll. I did vote them #4 this time around. I did not feel good about putting them there. I believe that they are a top three team, but I believe that 4 or 5 teams are top three teams.

Dayton is for real no doubt. They are very talented and very, very well coached. The run four lines of middies, using some of the lines specifically for transition only. They have a dominant man-up offense. They are a legit team that has as good a chance as anybody to win the tournament this year. Their number one vote is FULLY deserved. They do not get as much attention as other teams, but they have beaten West Virginia, Purdue, and Miami (OH) so far this year. I would love to see them and St. Thomas play. I think they are evenly matched with them.

I would have to agree with you that it is hard for me to see dayton above teams that are playing the best. not one game against a top 25 team. and who knows how those A teams they are playing are. they could be great, or the could be teams that are not that strong.

To get people riled up since the National Tourney is quickly approaching...

Assuming everything played out to the rankings, the three AL bids would go to St Johns (UMLL), UVSC(RMLC), and Northern Colorado(RMLC). Both Montana and Western Washington are on the outside looking in as far as AL's go.

I would imagine that if you are from the WCLL, SELC, GRLC, CCLA, LSA, or PCLL that you have to win the conference tournament to get into the playoffs. There will most likely be no at larges from these conferences. Harding has an outside shot, but I would not guess that they could lose in the playoffs and make the tournament again. Dayton would have a chance if they pick up another OOC game, but they may slide dramatically as wel.

UVSC may have lost to Ft. lewis, but they beat montana and montana state. So i believe their spot still holds ground. Also, when did they play WWU? I don't see that game scheduled anywhere.

Dayton is legit, probably one of the tougher games we have played all year long. (it was fall ball) They are a very big team that was very well balanced. I have absolutely no problem with them in the top 5. I have seen a lot of Different B teams in the past couple of years and Dayton could definitiley "run with the big boys". I remember talking to one of the defenseman about how shocked I was that they were not in Dallas last year.

One thing that impressed me is they were not a team relying on one or two players to carry the team, everyone was solid. (i think that happens too much in the B Div) They also had quite a large coaching staff who seem to be very good. Its weird they would go to Milwaukee to play fall ball, and not have any OOC games.....
