Laxpower has it's Computer ratings out.

not sure how much creedo I put in the rating. Lots of factors are not considered when you base it on a PC rating. To many intangibles. But for better or worse, here it is:

From the top of that page:

Remember that since the Power Rating is an average value, teams have to play around five B Division games for it to be really meaningful.

Bill,

Maybe you should re-read the message board rules.

9. AVOID COMMERCIALS – FOR OTHERS AND FOR YOURSELF
(a) Do not post commercial material or use posts to advertise your (friend's) web site. Particularly annoying are posts about a "great web site" that are made (with no acknowledgement, of course) by someone associated with that web site. (b) Also avoid disguised posts about yourself, especially those promoting what a wonderful player you are. People see through them, and you end up looking rather foolish. Let your actions on the field speak for themselves. (c) Do not post questions about a camp, clinic, tournament, etc. with which you are associated in the hope of generating free advertising for it. (d) Coaching Position listings are OK, but they should be submitted in the correct forum. Parties interested in advertising their products or services on USLIA.com should contact us at webmaster@uslia.com.

Since the LaxPower rankings aren't useful at this point early in the season, why bother to post them?

Well, I placed the link for it as a topic of discussion. Nothing more. Do I truly think the Laxpower rating is accurate? No, not at this point. While Liberty is 3-0, there are other teams that I would definately place ahead of us in the polls. In fact my pick for the #1 spot goes to UC-irvine. Not that my vote counts, just an opinion. It definately was not a commercial. Not for me, he team or the Laxpower website. it's a source of information at best.

Please don't try to read to much into what was meant as a source of discussion, and nothing more. Think happy thoughts! Spring is in the air, lax is underway and Golf season is just around the corner! Have a nice day!

And while I'm on the subject. I noticed that Feb 16 a post was made about the Laxpower rankings for Div A. Funny, no mention about the policy from you at that time....

http://forums.uslia.com/viewtopic.php?t=491

is it just me you have a problem with, cause I don't see how my post for Div B was any different then what was on the Div A post referenced above, which you took no exceptions too.

thelax isn't a coach for the team ranked No. 1 in the Div. B LaxPower Rankings at the moment. There is a big difference.

It's amazing to me how many coaches feel the need to defend themselves, promote their teams, critique other teams on the forums. It's funny how the coaches for the top rated teams like Michigan, CSU, UCSB, Sonoma, Arizona, etc. never post word one about that stuff here. Maybe there is something to think about there?

I have not promoted my team, and definately have not critiqued other teams. Honestly, I would have made the same post if we were the LAST team in the rankings. Again, I say that is was not intended, nor did it read, the way you perceive it to read. It was not a "commercial", and it was simply a discussion point, same as thelax's post. I don't recall typing in my message (We're #1, so vote for us). I even stated in the message that I did not put much "creedo" in the poll. I fail to see where you feel it was a commercial. If you took it that way, then I apologize.

Considering Calvin hasn't lost why should they loose their #1 spot, a #1 seed should be control its own destiny. UC- Irvine is obviously a better team then orginally thought by preseason pollsters but they have only beat the #22 and #24 teams, and two other non-ranked teams. How is that deserving of a #1 spot?? But I am glad that we have a b division championship this year so arguments like this although fun during the regular season, will all settled in Blaine.

And for you that havent seen the Anteaters they have sweet uni's- kind of a michigan take off. But i guess its ok considering michigan did steal their helmet idea from Princeton.

I agree, Calvin has merits to retain it's #1 spot,. UC-Irvine has one some good games. 4-0 ain't shabby. You're right that this talk generates interest and that was the intent of it when i posted it. Blaine will be HUGE in giving Biv B a tournament of it's own. Hopefully we'll be there, but it will be a tough road to go down in the SELC. Lots of good teams!

Haven't seen their unis, but they sound Cool! I like the Michigan helmets, they rawk!

Didn't steal it, my man. Coach Yost brought it with him.

I don't want to be that guy but it was Coach Herbert O. "Fritz" Crisler that stole/brought it along. I love knowing random sports facts!!

B Poll

PostPosted: Tue Feb 22, 2005 2:33 pm

Montana and Linfield should get more love in the first regular season B poll. Linfield is 3-0, with a convincing home 11-7 win over defending B champs #11B Puget Sound. Montana played Div A Gonzaga much tougher on the road than Stanford did at home, losing only 12-10. More impressively, the Grizz beat #25B Whitman on the road. Upstart Central Washington is also raising eyebrows with an impressive early record of high-scoring wins and a fairly close loss at #9B Western Washington. But until CWU beats a ranked team they likely won't receive any poll votes. The wild and wacky PNCLL B Division has some very strong teams in 2005, and our eventual champ has got to be among the favorites to win it all in Blaine.

This is all personal opinion, just my two cents of course. I don't claim to have any real knowledge of any of the ranked B teams outside the PNCLL, and how they would do against our teams (we'll get an idea when PLU plays Utah Valley State later in the season). But I have watched my Huskies play most of the PNCLL B powers the past two years, as well as some ranked A teams including Colorado State, Chico State, Oregon and Simon Fraser. While I am not suggesting that PLU, Montana, Western Washington, UPS, Whitman and Linfield are as good as the A Division ranked teams mentioned above, I believe I have some comparative basis for forming my opinion that our B teams play good lacrosse.

Most Goals Allowed By Washington, 2004 Season:
Oregon State 20
Linfield 17
Whitman 16
Chico State 15
Oregon 15 (playoffs)
Simon Fraser 15
Oregon 14
Colorado State 12
PLU 11

It's hard to complete a ranking based soley on each of our frames of references (i.e. specific conference knowledge) For the SELC, it looks like this: IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER

Davidson 2-0 in SELC B and 3-1 overall including win against Div A South Carolina GF 47 - GA 29

Emory 2-0 in SELC B 2-3 overall (but all 3 losses against Div A including UF and FSU) GF 42 - GA 65

Liberty 2-0 in SELC B, 3-0 overall with 1 OCC win versus Cent. Connect. (Pioneer) G F35 - GA 15

SCAD 3-2 in SELC B, 3-2 overall with wins over Alabama, Citadel and UNCC GF 35 - GA 31

App State 1-0 in SELC B, 1-0 overall with 18-0 win over WCU

not easy to pick whose best in your own conference much less nationally.

Bill and Sonny:

Both you guys need to chill. Liberty has a long way to go and I don't put a lot of faith in polls. I think it is a great motivator for the Players but it is not worth a major conversation.

Right now we have to take one game at a time and the only thing on my mind is preparing to play Scad in three weeks. One game at a time, baby steps.

Right now I'm just focused on building the best Team we can and I respect the competition and there are some really great Teams in these other Conferences. I do agree the SELC has some great competition.

Sonny, The past is behind me and I hope one day we can be good friends.
