Surprised to see BYU in the top 5. But I guess at this point it doesn't matter nearly as much

Is this UCF's first ever appearance in the Top 25? If so, Congratulations. If not, sorry.

I like the poll. One question though. Did voters wait until last nights BYU v ASU game or were the votes turned in before that? Central Florida better thank Zamboni for the shout out. Otherwise, I don't think many voters would have known they existed.

The votes were due before the BYU/ASU game took place.
I think UCF's win over VT caught the voters eyes, more so than Zamboni's shout out, but I'm sure they could care less either way.

I realize it may be hard for many of you to believe, but we pollsters actually DO pay attention to game results and do our homework ourselves. I, for one, enjoy reading ZD's postings and analysis, but I draw my own conclusions. UCF was on my radar even before their "upset" of VT, but moved up in my rankings after that big win. VT fell briefly out of my Top 25 these past two weeks but moved back in after they, in turn, beat Georgia.

I don't think last night's results would have effected either teams placement in this poll.

On the whole, the rankings seem about right. I think that Lindenwood should've dropped more. Same goes for Georgia. Stanford ought to have been in the Top 25 somewhere. We'll see how it all shakes out in the end.

i agree....also how does fsu deserve to be at 12 when they lost to 16 and there only t25 wins are against 20 and 25? guess thats an example of a name carrying a ranking....

Ya, part of it has to do with a few years back when they made it to the final four. Also being such a big name school and getting so much financial support, I would assume pollsters are pulling for them to be good.

Anyone else surprised that they jumped up that far? Seemed like an overly big move to me.

yea i mean beating lindenwood and a&m with just the one loss indicates they prolly deserve that ranking.....but i agree that pollsters are usually adverse to drastic changes from week to week (chapman did jump like 10 spots in a week, but unlike sfu they beat byu...)

Very surprised they jumped so far, but we will see if they can hang on to it.
